2010 can’t get any better!
Other than the fact that a circuit has blown in my house leaving more than half of it inoperable, I seem to find light in every situation. This morning I sit in my bed, laptop on, only to find one of the greatest things known to anyone in this business can admire. I’m never one to gloat, brag, or proclaim myself as anything but I will say that my track record will equate to being “achieved” and that comes with hard work and determination to provide a product so consistant that longevity is only inevitable.
Approximately 1 year ago, I came aboard the Infusion Lounge management team with the goal to make the venue shine in entertainment value. To be quite honest, I was nervous to take the position based on the fact that I had always been on the other side of decision making for the most of my career. My duties include booking all DJs, live elements, the implimentation of a consistant music program, managing all promotional campaigns, and sculpting all nightlife marketing alongside of the biggest and most respect promoters in the city. 1 year ago I didn’t really know exactly what I was getting into, I just knew I had to make decisions alongside of my counter parts Scott Caroen (GM) and Jeremy Martens (VIP Host) that made sense for the venue and for the demographic that we desired. I figured form years of experience in every club in San Francisco, I would base all of my decisions from the 15 years of seeing what worked, and what did work. Born and raised in San Francisco, I knew this was the time I had to really show that I could make an impact in this position which happens to be 1 of very few in the city today.
1 year long and 1 year strong, I still stay on the lines of communication as if I was just hired. I break my back to make sure that when people in this industry say San Francisco, they also mention Infusion Lounge. Why? Because I am a man who is obsessed with not failing. In the most humble way I can put this – I love to win and I love to work hard at what I do to please others and that is the most rewarding thing about this job. In a city where industry doesn’t really exist past our radio stations and nightclubs, I do whatever I can and whatever it takes to make sure that each night we are open – we provide an amazing experience that cannot be duplicated. I get it from my years of working in Las Vegas, even when I’m not working im hanging out at the strips hot spots observing what makes that place amazing. In a city where entertainment is taking to a whole new level, I wanted to make sure I learned the values of the people who mentored me to do my job today. I took those ethics with me back to San Francisco, and have worked day and night, non stop to see some type of outcome other than my paycheck which it truly isn’t all about.
Back to the present… 530am PST.
I open my laptop to surf the net for a bit and find a link to the bar and nightclub convention that is coming up next month.
I figured I’d take a look at the nominees this year, I wanted to know who the panel of the most credible people in the club business though was making noise.
I scroll down and I stopped for a bit and had to put my glasses back on to read what I thought I saw again…
Best New Nightclub of the Year
Infusion Lounge (San Francisco)
XS (Las Vegas)
Voyeur (Los Angeles)
Playhouse (Hollywood)
I couldnt believe my eyes. It was the most gratifying feeling I’ve had in quite a while. To know that our work at Infusion Lounge has been recognized. Will we win? Maybe no considering that XS is the heavywieght out of the whole list, but to still be placed amongst venues that I heard people take about over and over is by face the greatest music to my ears in quite a long time!

This would never be possible with YOU! We appreciate you more than anything and just know that what you are reading here now is from the heart. I have been in this business for over 16 years and never have I placed my ego in front of providing a product that you would enjoy. Weather it’s my radio show, my club shows, my mix cds, and the nightclub that I happen to the Entertainment and Marketing Director at, never have I ever thought about placing my pride or ego 1st and put the product 2nd. Most people will sit there on twitter and tweet about how great their doing, how awesome their lives are, how many people they’ve managed to trick through the door every night, but never thank the people who made them who they are.
For 16 years, I am who I am because of the people who took time to mentor, support and teach me. Consider this blog post my very thank you for everything. Weather you have came to my shows, attending an event I had put on, listened to my radio show, downloaded my podcast, bought my mix cds, told a friend that you enjoyed what you heard from me, suggested those to experience what you did with us and giving people a reason to believe… Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This is for San Francisco!
Thankful, blessed, and grateful… No fluff just the truth, just know that I work hard for you.
To the Infusion Lounge family, we’re not done yet! The dust will never settle. This is the dream team baby!
To all my mentors, I hope I make you all proud.
To my family, your support is priceless.
To god, your plan is and will always be amazing.
Hard work pays off!
